Hot start problem
#11
I had already pulled them and cleaned them. They weren't too bad but I learned the value of nice clean connections shortly after purchasing my Delorean. I probably should have stated that. I also went through a grounding check to make sure I wasn't dropping voltage to the block.
The battery looks to have been the culprit. It was only at 3/4 charge and took about 3 hours to charge up. If it is bad it is only a year old (found the date on it) so I can get it replaced for free. A heavy fog rolled in so it'll be tomorrow before I can verify this really solved the problem. I don't want to drive in this mess or bother my neighbor's get together with my loud exhaust. One extra thing I did do, I removed those push on connections to the solenoid and put on ring connectors on the ends of the wire. I've been wanting to do that for awhile but I never remembered until now.
I don't think it's vaporlock or timing since the starter isn't fully turning the engine over at the turn of the key but when it does get passed that initial struggle to rotate it will start.

The problem appears to be fixed with the fully charged battery. I guess the heat soak on the starter was just enough to cause the weak battery to not have enough juice to turn over the motor. I still need to install that heatshield, the other two cars took priority this weekend. I hope to get to that this weekend. I'll check my timing as well since I do that regularly anyway.
I appreciate all the help and suggestions.
