70 mustang, perfect straight body, needs paint, good interior, heads have harden seats, new roller chain, water pump, R134 complete conversion, new suspension parts, rebuilt factory power front disc brakes, ive seen these go from $6000.00 too $8000.00. the car is all original except for color and R134 conversion.

I assume it's an F-code automatic. It's worth $3k-$4k. It has to be a done car to be in the $6k - $8k range.

Yea.. they are asking 3000$2500 and up in pieces. If I sold mine today I would ask 9,500 and take whatever i could get.. thats with new paint. The coupe is just not as popular as the fastback and that takes the value dow pretty drastically

The coupe body was made more of then the fastback or convertible so its more common,And if its a inline 6 or small block that is common too.

This is where it comes down to how much you love the car. 8k is going to be a very good price. 70 coupes just arent going to bring any sort of big numbers for value. Any higher dollar value of the car in the future is going to be effectivly canceled out by inflation.

So this comes back to how much you love this car. If its your baby then keep it and spend many more years driving and wrenching on her. But if you are feeling an itch for a new project then 8k is a good offer.

Note: ebay is a horrible indicator of value cause is full of people that couldnt find a buyer locally and are trying to find a buyer nationally. There are two reasons to go nationally.

1. Rare high value car (IE shelby or boss). Its a small pool of people that have the money and the interest in these cars.

2. Seller is asking too much. This is the reason for a coupe to be on ebay.

I would definately take 8,000 for it, especially if it needs paint still. Thats a good offer. Or keep her and drive the hell out of it.

Yep. $8k is a great offer if it still needs paint. I'd take the money and run. I can guarantee those ebay cars in pieces aren't selling for $3000.
I was at the Mustang Roundup last year in Seattle. A guy had a '70 coupe in the judged show that sounds like it's optioned like yours (F-code, automatic with A/C). This was a 30k original mile car with spotless original paint/interior, etc. It was a time capsule. He had been trying to sell it for $12k for months and couldn't generate any interest. If it had been a sportsroof, it would have been a $20k+ car.

I would take the $8,000 and run, unless it just doesn't feel right. The coupes' value is largely determined by the local market. I've seen daily drivers in good condition go for as little as $2000 and as high as $9000. It's true that they made more coupes, but folks didn't take care of them or collect them near as much as higher valued Mustangs. I love my coupe because I don't see near as many of them in person as I do the sportsroofs.
