Default Why is my new Fuel sender leaking?

Just installed a new sending unit today, out gas in it and she leaks!? WTF. It was a super tight fit with the new gasket. I used some gasket glue to hold the gasket in place, spit on the gasket for some lube while installing the sender, then hammered the locking thingy into place!

Do I need to use sealer of some sort? If so what type?

I used white grease on mine. There should be three tabs that you can use to tap the sender lock ring into place. Lube up the rubber gasket with some white grease and you should be straight.

I did the change from a 16 to a 22 gallon tank on my 67 Mustang. The whole operation was a special done up in Mustang Monthly and they recommended using white grease.

Take it back apart and your mistake should be obvious. Use white grease as suggested for reassembly.

I agree with the o-ring not being lubed. But i also had a sender leak at the solder joint for the tube.

OK this is pissing me OFF...

I took it back apart only to find out the new o-ring is now swollen larger than the groove size so I cannot get a good seat. Ok fine. I found the old one and it is still pretty pliable no cracks. Fits the groove perfectly. I used grease as suggested on the o-ring and the groove to hold it in place.

I get everything back together, add a gallon of fuel, and GUESS WHAT. It F'ing leaks still!

WTF man. I am so frustrated that this simple thing is kicking my asssss.....I want to drive this thing man!
