Default 351w front non low end knock

So, I was at a car show and on the way in I start to hear this knock. It's for sure felt through the distributor.

There are bushings at the end of the cam shaft, right, this could be. Maybe it's the fuel pump drive eccentric, or maybe something with the timing. It's an odd knock sound and isn't always there at start and reeving can bring it on.

I don't want to start taking it apart without having a plan of attack and I am not familiar with the 351w and getting into that area, new to engines....

thoughts? I am uploading the video and it should be up soon.

18 & 25 seconds you can hear it, there is some rocker arm ticking but hear past that. It's a deep knock.

cant see the vid. Fuel pumps can also knock, just fyi, so maybe grab some 5/8 heater hose and put it up to your ear and listen around. put it near the fuel pump too. Not bushings, but yes there are cam bearings..doubt thats it though..

This is the exact noise but it wasn't the fuel pump. Oh no, I thought it was.

Ideas?

When I hear a deep knock, one of the most common sources is a cracked or broken flexplate. I have seen this almost exclusively on Chevrolet engines, but considering the crap way aftermarket flexplates are made, it wouldn't surprise me if Ford is prone to this issue also.

This is a manual. I hope it's not a bearing or crank.

It might be possible that the clutch is coming apart, or that the flywheel might have come loose.

Sometimes it is easy to jump to conclusions and think the worst, and it could be "the worst", but check thinks out close before jumping the gun.

In the past I have done a lot of work assuming the worst, only to find that I should have looked things over. I am not sure which makes me feel the worst....

How does your oil pressure hold up? (check it both hot and cold, and over various rpm and load conditions)

Just a thought.....On my 66, scared me cuz I thought it could be a rod too. Ends up that the engine mounts collapsed and the oil pan was hitting the crossmember and since I have a big cam in it, it rocked constantly and I heard the knock. Don't remember what your 69 crossmember looks like though..... good luck

Okay, got home and ran it, high revs then idle. No more sound. Took it out 8 miles with thumping and no sound. WTF, ???
