Default "327" Build

Just wanted to run my thoughts by y'all and get your input on it before I go spending too much.

Stock block
Eagle "327" stroker kit (4.000" bore x 3.250" stroke)(28oz external balance)
TrickFlow Twisted Wedge heads
TrickFlow .542i/.563e hydraulic roller cam
TrickFlow 1.6i/1.7e roller rockers
Pete Jackson gear drive timing set
Edelbrock Air-Gap intake
Holley 650cfm double pumper
Holley 80gph fuel pump
HEI distributor/coil combo
Doug's Tri-Y headers (1 5/8" primaries, 2 1/2" collector)
X-pipe with cutouts
and MAC mufflers

I already have the timing set, cam, lifters, and rockers and I'm a little worried about the clearance between the pistons and valves (especially exhaust). I've heard that you can go as high as .600" lift without problem and to clay the pistons to be on the safe side. Give me your input, positive and negative, so I can see if I need to adjust fire with certain parts. She will be n/a, no cheater juice.

I'd go with a different ignition system. the HEI's are nice in that they are a drop in, however they are HUGE right in front of the carb, so air filter fitment becomes an issue. I replaced my DUI with a pertronix small cap distributor. No difference in performance but much easier packaging under the hood.

what is your main use for this engine? street or strip? Sounds like what you are assembling is a mostly race engine. with that cam and intake most of your power will be at the high end of the rpm range.

Street/strip, street car (interior, all steel, etc.) seeing track time...not a strip/street, gutted and (fiber)glassed dedicated drag car that is barely street legal. I still want her to be a driver but still be able to show whomever wants to rev that she is nowhere near stock under the hood.

Why not a 347?...I have also heard that scat has superior quality these days compared to eagle...Just a couple of things to consider if you haven't bought the rotating assembly yet....As for PTV clearance you always should check when building a new combo..The timing of the closing of the valves is more important than max lift..Max lift does not occur when the piston is at tdc..
