RE: dumb question about blocks...
when you see 302 and 5.0 they are two different measurments....one is measured in cubic inches and the other in litres, but the standard has changed and we mainly use the litre system of telling what the engine size is now(correct me if im wrong guys).

When people say "302," they refer to the late 60's early 70's model engines.
When people say "5.0," they refer to the 80's model mustangs with fuel injection and serpentine belt systems.

RE: dumb question about blocks...
Nearly everything will physically interchange between a any 289 and any 302/5.0, but there are alot of build specs that dont allow for swapping parts haphazardly. The different balance factors of the rotating asseblies for example, is why you cannot just switch the dampers or flywheels. The heads will fit as long as you dont have piston interference. It is also possible you'll have to poke a few small water holes either in the block or the heads. But, as far as the top of the heads on up, it is a bolt on operation.
