1966 Mustang (302 V8) runs rough at low speeds
Hey all,
I own a 1966 mustang with a 302 v8. Here within the last two weeks, the car has been running very rough and shaking at low speeds. Once it gets above 40mph, it runs pretty smooth. The other day when I was stopped at a light, I hit the gas pedal and the car was sputtering; almost like it wasn't getting enough fuel. It eventually stalled. In addition, other times when I hit the gas pedal, there is a slight delay before the engine engages; almost like it wants to stall.
I am a novice at automobiles, but I don't want to take the car to a shop as I want to learn on my own. Can anyone tell me where to start troubleshooting or give me a troubleshooting sequence? I have been reading other posts that say check for a vacuum leak or a bad fuel filter. Thanks in advance.
