Where should my fuel filter be?

my stock block mounted mechanical fuel pump has a filter built into that little canister that hangs down towards the sway bar, its a BITCH to unscrew, but there is a filter in there

Yeah, the ones with a canister do have a filter, but usually they only came on the FE engines. My truck with a 352 has that same pump. They seem to go out alot, probably just the filter clogged though.

ya, my 351W is a normal in line that screws into the carb
