uhhhh............

Based on your description I think its working fine!

Could you be more specific?
When did it last run right
Have you driven it before?
What did you do to it since it last ran right?

Is the transmission in neutral? Is there a clutch or neutral start switch wired in?

We're being fed scraps of a story here so it won't be possible to tell you whats wrong.....accurately

But I'm putting my bet on a seized up trans input shaft...Hell its diagnosis that's on par with the description.

When the clutch is in it would free the clutch disc from the engine via the pressure plate and flywheel. The clutch disc is directly connected to the input shaft on the trans. So if releasing the input shaft from the engine causes the engine to turn over nice then why not suspect the input shaft.

Sounds like you'll need to drop the trans and take a look. Not all that difficult.

Good luck let us know what you find.

Does your 5 speed (assuming a World Class T5) have ATF for its fluid? If you put in 80/90W, then this might be your problem. 80/90W is way too thick to flow through the tiny orifices in the T5. Although many trans run 80/90W with no problems, yours could be a weak battery combined with the wrong fluid.
