Default Cobra brake master cylinder

I switched my 66 to the 2000-2004 cobra front and rear brakes. I have the exploder 8.8. when I did this, I used the cobra master cylinder. I works okay but takes a LOT of pedal pressure.
I think the cobra cylinder is a 7/8 in bore. which should reduce the pedal pressure required. However, it doesn't.
Can someone tell me if it may be a plumbing issue or if there is a better master cylinder that I can use? I have the port closest to the firewall connected to the front brakes and the most forward one connected to the rear. I am also using a proportioning valve on the rear.

thanks again
B

Also, what size brake line should I use? I kept the original line going to the rear, I installed new 3/16 line to the front two calipers along with new stainless line.

Doesn't anyone else run the cobra brakes?

Yup running cobra brakes up front stock drums rear, I used m/c that came with the old street and track kit (since then, they have changed their product offerings slightly) but I am pretty sure it's a 1" bore. I agree that my pedal is extremely hard to push, and I am planning on using clay as a test to see how far the brake pedal presses relative to the floor.
Once I see that, I will consider downsizing since a smaller m/c requires more pedal travel. I have heard that there are sizes at 15/16" and 7/8" although I doubt 1/16" makes any real difference in effort.
p.s. I have an allstar performance adjustable rear brake proportioning valve (or limiter valve) and this makes no difference to pedal effort that I can tell. Granted, I never installed the residual proportioning valve for the drums which theoretically might help...I think...chime in

I am going to try to upgrade the pads to see if that helps too. I am using factory for pads now.
