Manual transmission and "pregnant" kick panel don't play nice
Hi,
This may be common knowledge to many, but I figured it's worth stating just the same...
I recently decided to upgrade the sound system in my '65 GT vert from the original pushbutton AM radio to a Retrosound II. Naturally, this required upgraded speakers, too. So, I chose a pair of Pioneer 6.5" speakers for the kick panels. And rather than cut my original kick panels, I opted for a pair of "pregnant" after-market kick panels - you know, the ones that have a bump out to accommodate the depth needed even for low-profile speakers like these.
So, here's the rub... The bump-out makes the space between the speaker surface and the clutch pedal small... in my case, small enough to prevent my shod foot from slipping through that gap to the floor. Inconvenient, and not too safe, either.
Words to the wise...
Cheers,
-Bob-
