I see what the title says, but I question that. The PO probably put down the wrong number at registration and the DA clerk didn't catch it.

No, and that is because Ford trashed all the records for those years. It was a dumb arsed move on their part, but that is reality. Just do the best you can with the decoding stuff at the top.

Hi this is my first message here. My 65 has about 70k and the original motor was taken out to save it at about 60k. It's on a stand in my storage shed, but I have a friend with a 70 Chevelle that was his mom's. He's driven it for work as a copier thech for a long time. When his wife made him buy a car with air he downgraded it to weekends only with a little over 440k. Yep that's right. The heads haven't been off and no rebuilds. It gets prettyu stove up if it's not driven for awhile but it still goes. If you want em to run, just keep the oil changed and run em! If a bowtie can do that a Mustang should be able to easily. Thanks GWB

My friend in high school bought a mercedes from the early 50's from this ex-**** family. It had over 400,000 miles on it, and he drove the crap out of it.

Man, now you drive a car for a few years and you chunk it. Cars nowadays are just throw-aways.

Mercedes and Ford engines are in totally different catagories. The tolerances and specs from the factory are much more advanced with the Mercedes line than the Ford, even back then. That's partly why a Mercedes costs so dang much. I had a 1973 Mercedes while I was stationed in Germany that had about 350,000 miles on the original engine, and it purred like a kitten at over 100 MPH on the autobahn hour after hour going from Giessen, Germany to various cities such as Paris, Munchen (Munich) etc. As for Porsches, I visited the Porsche factory, and was quite impressed at the detail they take in assemblying an engine. Two guys build the engine, then it is dyno tested. If it doesn't meet Porsche requirements, then that same engine goes back to those same two guys, and they have to rebuild it. But, they don't receive any pay for the second rebuild. Now, that is quality control at its' finest.

Just turned 55,000 on my 66, 200 cid, purchased in June with 54,300. I'm not low-mileage winner here, but several dox I got with the car indicate that's accurate, including various service receipts over the last 25 years. Prev owner (18 years) said he averaged only 300 miles a year over the last decade. My favorite bill...new Midas muffler done in 1981 at 45,000 miles...hope the warranty is tranferable!
