Convertible windows busting a sag. Part 2
Well my quarter window that was busting a sag busted a really big sag and fell off completely down inside the car.
Getting it out was no sweat. Pulled the rear seat, panel, speaker & rain shield and it was all right there.
What I was dumbstruck by, and I guess I shouldn't have been, is that there was nothing holding the window up but silicon. No track. No clamp. Nothing but the glass siliconed to a small triangular bracket. I'm actually surprised it held up as long as it did.
I cleaned both the glass and the bracket from any remnants of the old silicon and used the black cheese whiz gasket maker called Rite Stuff to put them back together. I used clamps and washers to keep the two pieces together and let it set up on the workbench for a day then installed it.
I had to do a little adjusting to get the window to go up correctly but now it seats better than ever.
No fuss. No muss. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the most difficult this was at most a 2. Don't fear the sag. It's like leaping over a mouse turd.

Hmm, I had a similar issue with my quarter window on my 90. I had a friend in the auto glass business who had this special window glue that hardens into rubber. It's the same stuff they use on front windows.
Glad the rite stuff worked out for you. I would think it wouldn't be strong enough.
Good luck.

I forgot completely about this having happened.
It's been bit over two years and haven't given it another thought. The Rite Stuff seems to be holding just fine.
jiggity.
