Default I want my car to be shiny!

Ok i have a black car, and if any1 has owned one you know the pain. I bought it new 7 months ago and already have many swirls. I know i should get a polisher to polish and then wax the car. Question is, what is a good polisher (random) that is not going to break my wallet? Any other tips on keeping my black car clean? It always gets so dirty so quick and it seems like it attracts dust. So far i have waxed it once and wash it weekly with soap and thats it.

The best bang for the buck polisher is the Porter Cable by far. There are many orbitals that you can get over the counter, they don't have the power to do paint correction. Basically, those are only good for applying waxes.

The Porter Cable is high speed, but it is still an orbital, so you don't have to worry about burning up your paint. You can also be a beginner and get excellent results, that is why the Porter Cable is so popular.

I would recommend going with the Porter Cable/Optimum package that I carry, this has everything needed to polish and to take out swirls. Optimum polishes are really user friendly and you will get excellent results with them. I also give $10 off all of my Porter Cable kits for members here.

nice work tommy boy, OD has some great products and definitely go for the Porter Cable, easy enough that a first timer can use and get great results.

Hey!

I havnt detailed in a while. Sault sucks to detail on a DD. Plus wipen' away snow every other day , its hard to see how close you are to the car with those hard bristles on the scrapper. Its going to be alot of work in the spring.

I'd say black is the hardest to keep clean, and paint code UA from Ford is the softest for sure.

And on the Car I used...
(Washed it)

First, Optimum Hyper Compound
with orange(cutting) PC pad.

Then, OD Light polish
with a white(polish) PC pad.

Lasly, OD Wet Shine glaze
with a gray(finishing)pad

Finally, OD Wet Obsession wax
with a SuperFly micofiber towel(by hand)
(not pictured)

Also, For light pollen and dust(or, before a meet or show),
I used OD Waterless Wash + Carnuba.
with a SuperFly mf towel.

Thanks Justin!

How much did you pay for your whole detailing kit? i notice you did not use a orbital polisher? All by hand right? How long does it take you to do the full deal

No...

sorry, a PC means Porter Cable. Its the random orbital power-tool.

I got the detailing product from OD, Justin. ~$60 for all 3.
+ the microfibers go on sale from Justin every few weeks, $10 for like 1,000 towels.
+ the PC, ~$100, the Pads ~$30.
so ~$200. All those will last quite a while, I havnt even used half of all those listed.
(other then the waterless wash, I use that constantly)

If you pay a shop to detail you car 2x a year, @ ~$120 a visit.

Its well worth the cost if you like having a 'Shiny', deep black, clean Mustang, That you did yourself.

Time, takes about a good chunk of a sunny Saturday to do the whole car with all 4 products.
