Default Goo Gone to rescue on windshield smears

I had a few small smears on my windshield; I could cover the affected area with a quarter. I couldn't feel them with my finger tip. Nevertheless, it was somewhat annoying while driving.

I tried Stoner Invisible Glass, both the regular and the pressurized can types, along with both a disposable microfiber cloth and a reusable one. No joy. Then I got everything nice and dry and used some #0000 steel wool. Still no joy.

Then I squirted on some Goo Gone, let it set for a few minutes, and cleaned it off. Joy! No more smears.
