Default shaking out of 1st

i have a 96 sixer with a manual transmission and it seems like unless i rev it up pretty high when i take off in first gear my car usually shutters and shakes halfway through the shift process almost like it wants to stall. only first gear, as soon as i am in gear it drives fine. my check engine light constantly goes on and off and i had autozone read it they said it was a emission problem and they could not tell me what was wrong. does this have anything to do with it or could it be something to do with the clutch or transmission?

if your check engine light is flashing you have a engine misfire.

i haven't noticed any rotten egg smells and i am not going to stick my face into my exhaust to find out. also my check engine light doesn't flash. what is does is it will be on for a couple of days and it will be off for a few days to a week then back on again.if it is engine misfire how would i diagnose that? should i change all the spark plugs and wires or is that a shot in the dark?

you need to have the pcm scanned and find out what codes you have and go from there. anything else is just guessing and will waste time and money in the end.

auto zone will be able to read the codes. but, dont buy anything they try to sell you based off the codes. they arent trained to diagnose a bicycle let alone a vehicle.

yea, i bought a couple hundred dollars of sensors that autozone told me i needed because of a check engine light problem and none of them fixed it. i bought a 175 dollar mass airflow sensor for nothing. and a 30 dollar sensor. i was pissed!! i still had to put it in the shop and spend another 300.
