'97 3.8 into '89 Fox - need fitment help
as the title says, I'm transplanting the drivetrain from a '97 v6 5-speed into a fox chassis.
I know that's not logical, but before you spend time telling me how dumb I am - know this is for a road race series where we endurance race $500 cars (not counting safety). It's actually insanely fun. www.24hoursoflemons.com and www.chumpcar.com
On to the issue:
I was told by a less than reliable source that the motor should just bolt right in - wrong. It appears the motor w/ mounts is an inch or 2 too narrow. Further research tells me the K-members are different for '96+.
I think the fox & 94-95 K-members are the same - since the 3.8 carried across the K-member change from 95 to 96, could I just put the 94-95 mounts on my '97 motor - and fit it on the fox k-member? My other option is to swap the '97 k-member into the fox... other research says that would work too.
Obviously, I'd prefer just to swap the mounts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

24 hours of lemons, that sounds like fun.
I think the problem you will run into here is that very few mustang owners that have done what you are doing. I think this is the first time I have head of anyone replacing a motor with a 6 cylinder and not upgrading to a v8.

There are a few big power V6 swaps into fox bodies. I can think of at least 3 off the top of my head that would show tail lights to a few SC'd V8s.
SSM has gone 11's (N/A) and 10's (bottle fed) with a V6 fox coupe, there was a guy on V6P with a TT V6 fox, and I know Nathan (of MySteedPerformance) is transplanting his M112'd V6 into a fox. I started a 5.0L to V6 swap on a '93 LX hatch, but didn't have the free time I wanted once I started.
