Default 1996 4.6 GT Elect Issue I Think - Could use help very quickly

Hi

My son's GT died two days ago - We went out and it would not start. It just clicked. AutoZone had told him a couple days before that his alternator AND Regulator were going. Alt. was only putting out 11v and regulator was going from 11 - 13V. Bought a new alt/regulator today and installed. Try it and same thing - put brand new jumper cables on it and still same thing. ANY thoughts would be great. I have to keep driving him to work 25 miles one way and then pick him back up each day ARRRGGGHH

Something I noticed. When you turn the ignition to the ON position, not the start position, you can hear clicking coming from INSIDE the passenger fender??? There are a large group of wires going into a large hole on the inside of the fender. Any thought on what the clicking is?

Even if the battery were totally bad, it should start with a direct jump from my truck, right??

Also, even with the battery jumped from my truck, car seems dead / no lights/radio etc

I checked the battery with a multi meter and I have a full 12.77 Volts at the battery

Thanks for ANY help

Good to hear you got it fixed. Bad/corroded connections can cause strange electrical problems. That is why it is (usually) the first thing most manuals state to do when hunting down electrical problems.
