Red face Question On Shocks

We recently had new tires put on my wife's car (2010 V6 Convertible- mileage is 53K). After completion, the tire shop tech told her that the rear brakes needed replacing and I figured at 50K+ miles that sounds about right. However, we brought it to the local Ford dealer for the job since it needed to go in for a recall anyway. The job was completed yesterday. When we picked it up, they told us that the right rear shock absorber is leaking and needs to be replaced and that they replace both rears in this case.

Since the Tire shop said nothing about the shock absorber, I'm wondering if there's a way to check/verify that it is in fact leaking?

Any help/suggestions are very much appreciated!!v

Pete

I'd just look at the shocks. If there is any leaks you'll see them right away.
