Default STOCK AXLES

Does anyone have any idea, about what hp or et's they are good up to. I'm starting to get a little nervous running on stock alxes. I don't feel like seeing one of my rims rolling past me while i'm in my upside down mustang.

400-450 hp is about the most HP I'd push with confidence.

it isn't so much as hp but the traction you have slick are hard on axles..go get a set of 31 splines and you can find a cheap carrier out of a truck

Yeah, vfast said it. There are a lot of good aftermarket axles out there. Check out the Moser stuff, I ran them on my big block race car years ago and they never even flinched.

For now take out your axles, clean them real well and paint a white line down them, make sure it's 100% straight, then take them out periodically and see if they are twisting at all.

Thats a good idea. But if i'm gonna take them out i'm just gonna replace them. They don't even cost that much.

Stripe the new ones. You still need to check them once in a while.

I know. I love workin on my car. But when it comes to the rear I just hate it. It smells my hole garage up. Me and all my tools get dirty, It sucks.

you shouldn't even get dirty on that job and wear rubber gloves.put some pine sol in your drain bucket before you drain the rear
use redline gear oil
