Ok, so i found out from mustangspecs site that these are my gear ratios
V6 Model GT Model
1st 3.35:1 3.37:1
2nd 1.99:1 1.99:1
3rd 1.33:1 1.33:1
4th 1.00:1 1.00:1
5th 0.68:1 0.67:1
Final Drive 3.15:1 3.22:1
So, what does that mean? when you say gear ratio of 4.1 .. do you mean the first gear has 4.1 engine rotation to 1 wheel rotation ratio? or which gear is it ?
Also, I have an automatic transmission with 4 speed gear. How does that work in that case. I know when I put it in drive the car changes gear from 1 to 3 or 4 as required. But, .. I am not sure if these gears are same as the ones I can choose my shifting the gear lever myself. Can some one clarify?
OK.....now I'm confused........I have a 95 GT auto asnd have been told I had 2.73s....I was about to get 3.73s to replace what do you guys think??? Do I need to got to 4.10 s? weekend driver car so I am not too concerned about gas mileage?

why are these yellow lights on?
so if i wanna improve my 1st gear acceleration without killing my overdrive in my 96 GT auto..i should use 3.55 gears? i still have the stock ones so im looking to see which ones are good for a race or two during the weekend while keeping the car with good fuel economy for work on the week
I have the 3.73 gears in mine. You might be interested to know that I still get the epa 16/25
miles per gallon! First gear is really deep with 3.73s ! The car is an 86 efi GT
MORE THAN LIKELY YOU HAVE AÂ*7.5 REAR END AND I WOULD RECOMEND THAT YOU CHANGE IT OUT FOR AN 8.8 REAR.Â* THE GEARS ARE PROUBALLY 2.73.Â* I WOULD GO BACK WITH SOME 3.55 BECAUSE YOU WULL NOT HAVE ANY OVERDRIVE UNLESS THIS IS JUST GOING TO BE A RACE CAR.
Easiest way if you have the cover off is to count the teeth on the ring and pinion then divide the ring number by the pinion.
