Default MPG w/CAI and Exhaust Mods

Motorheads,

Got an 06 GT, purely stock. Thinking of a CAI and axel or CAT back exhaust. I know I need to reflash the engine, but my question is, what miles per gallon increase would I expect to see if any. Bear in mind that my driving habits will remain the same.

I doubt you will be able to keep the driving habits the same...... it will be too fun with the CAI and tune. But in some mundane way you can drive like my wife, then you will pick up some minor MPG gain..... if you are asking to justify this to your wife, then WOW the MPG went up by 10 [sm=guilty.gif]

Very funny. Not married, so no permission slip is needed. I drive 90% interstate to and from work, 75-80 mph, averaging 25 mpg, on a 100 mile round trip commute. Would dropping a $500 - $750 CAI and exhaust really be jusitifed? Sure I'd blow it out from time to time, but I'm not a racer and I don't see myself doing much more to the car as far as performance mods. Looking for better gas mileage and better growl.

Sounds about right, CAI + Tune + exhaust = [sm=happy046.gif]

The CAI and tune will be all you need, especially since you don't race. I guess eventually the CAI and tune will pay for itself with gas, eventually. I got the exhaust just because I love the sound of the SLP loudmouths.

Mikefan20 - The way I figure it, if I get an 2 mpg increase that's 8%. At that rate I save about $1 a day in fuel. Therefore I figure if I do the CAI and exhaust, I'll break even in two years! Maybe I should just put the money in beer and women.

Yeah, I'll probably go and do it. The little added umph once in a while, as well as the louder growl, will work almost as much as Viagra. Not that I need Viagra you understand. [sm=yikesomg.gif]

Hmmmmmm, I have more money now than I ever did being single. I just can't spend it without getting the cold shoulder. That doesn't stop me though. It helps that my wife makes as much money as I do.[sm=happybounce.gif]

Nobody really needs viagra, just like nobody really needs 300hp.
