Default Do you carry an extra belt with a SC?

I've been reading posts about belt problems with SC. How many of you have an extra belt in the trunk with a 1/2" breaker bar? Hopefully I won't have any issues, but a few have so that worries me.

Does anyone know a belt that can be used for the whipple besides the one whipple supplies? I read the whipple supplied belt made by dayco costs $89! Isn't that a bit excessive for a drive belt or is it just me?

Good belts cost a little more. Gate's belts are pretty good and are in that price range.

So far (knock on wood) I've only heard of belt problems (shredding ribs and jumping off and even bent tensioners) occuring with whipple and only when driving hard (power shifting at the track). The whipple is wrapped differently than with the Saleen.

I do check my belt on occasion and so far no signs of any problems but I do keep a spare belt in the trunk. Kinda half-assed though 'cause I dont carry the 1/2" breaker[8D]Been meaning to get one and a small tool set.

I'm not to worried about bending my tensioner as that seems limited to power shifting as well, but if I start losing $89 belts every 500 miles of normal driving(normal isWOT atleast 1 time a day)the whipple will be for sale.

I did hear of a problem in the past with the whipple's throwing belts, because the snot were the pulley is located was about a 1/16 of an inch off, but I believe they may have fixed the problem. 89 is a lot but is better and cheaper than a tow.

Yeah, I don't hear of it very often at allwith any of the SC's.

I think anyone with a SC should just checkthe belt on occasion and yes I do carry a spare just in case.

A buddy of mine replaced his belt 3 times in 12 months, but he is running a Saleen SC like me. He did fix the problem with a larger water pump pulley, but I have not had any problems so far, but then again I have not taken the car to the track yet, too fricking hot!
