These are the combo wrenches I was talking about.

The Crossforce wrenches are nice, the only downside I see of them is that in tight spots the larger/more torque friendly handle might be a bit too large. There are a lot of variety available. Cross force combination/ratchet. Regular combination/ratchet. Flex head ratchet. Stubby, ratchet, and flex ratchet... among others. I don't suggest buying anything unless you need it, IE most of the wrenches listed above. A basic mechanics set with a variety of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drives with short and deep wells should do you fine... as well as an assortment of metric and standard wrenches. The 145 piece is a nice piece, because it includes all of that but lacks the 40 pieces of junk like bits and allen keys. In turn it's a little more expensive but you get what you pay for.

RE: Who knows their tools?
Nearly all the mods that I have done to my car have been with 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive socket sets, shallow and deep, sizes 10mm-18mm 1/2 inch breaker bar, 1/2 inch torque wrench, floor jacks, jack stands and tire chalks. I did use a combo wrench when I installed my Hurst short throw shifter. All the suspension mods and the UDP were done using the socket sets.
