GT500 or Supercharge the GT?

GT500 or Supercharge the GT?
I've been stopping in at the local dealer from time to time to pay them a visit - became good friends after buying 3 vehicles there (mainly aftermarket guy lol). Anyways I can't help but notice the GT500's are down to about $5-7K over MSRP, that's a $15K drop in like the last 6 months.
I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Whipple, but can't help but wonder where the break even point on the investment would be on going straight to an already blown GT500 that could support 700+hp for not that much coin. As you all know, going above 10psi on our stock 4.6 and we are on borrowed time unless we rebuild and go forged.
I haven't invested a ton in mods yet.
If you could get a GT500 at or very close to sticker, would you do that or SC your GT? I figured I might as well weigh my options before sinking 6k into a SC.

Thats not enough drop. That's still too much over msrp on a car that isn't as hot and brand new as in the past.
Build your bottom end and get a whipple or kb that'll smoke a stock gt500. And I'm sure you'll come out saving a decent amount of cash.

That's the toughest part, I've grown to love the current GT it would be hard to see it go! But then I think about 5-6K on a SC and then all the supporting mods (Driveshaft, suspension, tires, etc) and I'm dang near to the GT500 range. And the GT500, as you said, is expandable without forging.

Thanks for the initial input all - appreciate all the advice!
I would probably have to reshuffle my current 'fleet' of 4 vehicles Including trading the GT and my 06 F150 Supercrew for the gt500 and a cheaper daily driver. Although I don't even drive the F150 as is....it's an 06 with 4900 miles on it [&:]
