Downshifting blips?

Downshifting blips?
Hey everyone, I'm just looking for some insight on how to properly downshift. Everytime I need to I've been throwing it in neutral, rev it up 1.5k -> 2krpm, clutch, gear.. etc. Well, to be honest I'm pretty new to driving a manual all together. I started in January, and I've definitely got the hang of it, it's just the downshifting that's killing me .
Listen to this. Right before he takes off, you hear the throttle blip and he pulls away. I'm just trying to figure out how to do that here, and spare my car the abuse out on the road. Thanks.

yeah, say you're in 4th gear cruising, you want to put it into 3rd and take off,
1. neutral
2. throttle
3. clutch
4. into third
5. throttle
step 3 is optional, although for you probably not being new to manual.

The whole point of doing the rev between downshifts is to lessen the stress on the transmission and suddenly slow down the wheels. So you want to put enough gas as to the revs will be in the correct position for the lower gear at that speed.

Heres a vid of heel toeing. You don't need to worry about the double clutching and breaking part. Just get the rev matching down first.

Rev matching and letting the engine slow the car on the street will just wear out the clutch faster. I do this on track but not so much on the street. Well, I do blip the throttle if a downshift is needed but not in the case of slowing the car down.

RE: Downshifting blips?
I have always used the transmission to slow the car
For acceleration,I just throw in the clutch when downshifting and as I'm easing the clutch out, sometimes quickly, I am increasing the RPMs.
For slowing, I throw in the clutch, downshift, and ease out the clutch allowing the engine to rev and slow the car, great for cornering. Of course, don't downshift when you are at 5k rpms
Have done this with
pickup trucks
trucks with 24 foot long boxes
v8s
inline sixes
4 cylinders
motorcycles
and of course the stang
more than a million miles (many more) with nothing but manual transmissions and I guess i must be an anomaly because I haven't experienced the "screwing up of the transmission or early clutch failure"
