X Pipe Vs. H Pipe

RE: X Pipe Vs. H Pipe
Hey Silver,
I've asked similar questions in this forum with no replies either. I have researched the x pipes with and without the high flow cats and leaving the stock cats on with the x pipe. The manufacturers of these things claim hp and torque gains due to less restriction but don't say how much or compare the stock cats on the 05 to their high flow cats. I can't get any dyno #'s on these things or headers either and therefore I have come to the conclusion that the stock exhaust flows well enough for the car even with some bolt ons and you don't need an aftermarket setup until you either get a SC or mabey your heads ported and polished. So save your money on exhaust unless you just want to spend hundreds for a few horses or to make your car sound better.

RE: X Pipe Vs. H Pipe
thanks for that link....I have always been thinking about adding an X Pipe to my new Flows but think I have decided no for now at least.......I would do it if I got maybe 25-30 HP but by the sounds of it that is not gonna happen!

RE: X Pipe Vs. H Pipe
I took my GT in to an exhaust shop today. The guy told me what they are doing to several 05 GTs is install headers, an X pipe and axle back mufflers. He said they sound great, the car runs well and you get more horsepower. He didn't say how much more HP because he probably couldn't substantiate any quantitative claims.

Crap! After reading the article, I probably wanted an H pipe. I ordered a catted X pipe a couple of weeks ago. I would rather have the low end torque over the slight horse power gain that the X pipe offers.
