Hit 170 today?

RE: Hit 170 today?
I doubt that the 05 is limited to 150 due to drag, mainly due to having run almost 140 in a big boat of a 68 coronet back in 1970. That motor had only 280 to 300 net hp, about what the new 4.6 motor has, probably a tad less. Also, my coronet quit at that speed due to running out of gear, not power. It hit 5700 rpm, and that was a limiting factor due to valve float/hp loss due to the stock valve train.
So my guess is 160 + is very possible.

The drag limit numbers are on a car with factory HP. The more HP you make, the faster your 4.6 can push your car.

Ok, I'll be the first to do it, I call Bullsh!t. If you were going that fast with no real front splitter, you would have been squirrly as hell, in fact you probably would have lost control and killed yourself and someone to boot. There is a reason they put a speed rated governor on vehicles. It's for safety reasons. With the factory suspension and the front splitter and rear spoiler, it is safe at that speed. After that, your gambling.
I believe your calculations are incorrect because you did not take drag into effect, which someone mentioned. So, unless your pushing 400+hp, I don't think you hit 170.

O.K. I'll be the first to do it from the 2005 section, that is one Tough Cobra Dude! The other day when I was at the ford dealership getting my oil change, I read a mustang brochure and it was saying we have the guts of the cobra engine and Mach 1 can you intervein on that. Anyway if you can't I still think your car rocks.
