Hit 170 today?
Alright guys, before you call B.S. on me, listen to my thinking on this. I was traveling down a stretch of semi-flat 4-lane highway when an old 300zx started up on me and blew by. I was running about 80 and, not to be outdone, I shifted down into 3rd and ran it up to just over 100 and shifted into 4th. Now, the speedo only goes to 145..which I burried before shifting into 5th. Keep in mind that I dont have a top end governor with my Xcal2 (tuned by Brenspeed). By this time the 300zx was nothing but a blur in the rear view. I ran it up to 5k on the tach before letting off. On the way back into reality.....down about 85mph, I was running 2500rpms. Theoretically, twice that rpm would equate to twice that speed(85 twice is 170). Follow me? With a manual tranny, there is no room for slipping. Try it yourself. 40mph@1200rpm..85mph@2500..125mph@3700 and at 5000rpm it should be around 165-170 mph.....OK, start the criticism.

Did you account for HP & torque dropping too? Factor in your rear gears? 5th gear ratio?

A lot of folks have been talking about hood shake at speed, did you notice any???
I have never taken my car past 100mph, I have not seen any hood shake at that speed. Just curious, Thanks

On my car the hood shake starts about 130mph. It doesn't seem to be as bad with the scoop on the car. I don't know why though, because the hood does not have a hole cut in it. Its held on with 3M double sided tape...(good stuff huh?)
