I assume we're talking about the NT05R (a drag radial) vs the NT05 (a twisty track tire). Either way, the NT05(R) probably isn't recommended for a daily driver because of the crappy wet traction and low treadwear rating. If you don't go to the track very often, I'd get the 555's.

Speaking of the 555, where is a good place to buy them fir a good price? Locally, they cost about $250+. but I saw that AM has them for under $150.

I believe you just answered your own question. Plus you get the forum discount /win.

Get the 555's, I'm currently running them and they are great tires. Much better than whatever tire I had on originally, lol

Get em from AM and pay a local place to mount and balance them. I had to order my 555's locally as I picked up a nail in sidewall of my stockers 2 days before I was driving out to Brenspeed so I got reamed, paid $550 I think for 2 tires but didnt have time to order em in.

And I saw a MASSIVE difference between stock tires and Nitto 555. With the stock ones, I was chirping the tires on gears 1 to 3 almost everytime without meaning. Soon as I switched to the 555, they only chirped when I was really launching it hard. Much better traction.

Locally, I have a plan for wheel balance and rotation. They always try to up sell me and to shut them the hell up, I said I was going to buy Nittos (which I eventually intend to do). They said they can order them but their prices are north of $250 a piece. I think I will opt for the AM tires and price. And if they try to up sell mr again, I will use the price as leverage to back off. If they do not price match, I will tell them I ain't buying the tires to them. I know for sure they will refuse so I will wind up getting the AM one, they again earn my business.

Discount Tire also carries the 555's as well. Got my fronts from AM and rears through Discount, both great purchases. A very good all around tire in my book, would purchase again. I wish they would make the 555 in a 305/40/18 like they do the drag radial, it would be an excellent filiment, but the 295/45/18 works for now

Discount Tire is the place I am griping about. I love their service but I hate how these guys won't shut the hell up when I make it clear I do not want to be up sold.

If you were able to buy your tire from AM through DT, what additional fees did they charge you? I think I might actually go that route if the tax and extra fees work out to be cheaper than straight up S&H.
This way, both AM & DT get my business and I just might be able to get them to shut up with the damn up selling.

I looked on AM for nitto 555s and a 255/45/18 & 285/40/18 purchase was like $857 (without discount, i didnt know about that). Cruizinconcepts had the same thing for 792.

IDK, i was all set to go nitto when my stock tires wear out. After looking around at forums for guys that track a lot and reading that (car and driver?) review where they pitted tires against each other the smarter choice if grip and handling is what you are after than the 555's was the Hankook ventus V12 evo K110. When i hit the track one of the Porsche GT3 guys ran them exclusively and he had the loot for anything and said they worked the best for him. granted the NT05's were not in that comparison, but the only thing that was rated better for grip were the (Dunlop?) star specs, which don't come in the size i need. Trust me that your choices are VERY limited in a 19" wheel.

American muscle sells the hankook and nitto's, discount tire will price match that, but you have to pay tax then. Am also ships free and has epic customer service.
