Default Noise coming from rear end

I have a 2007 GT with about 54000 miles. I started noticing a rubbing noise coming from the rear end of the car when turning. It only seems to be happening when making sharp left hand turns, and the frequency of the noise matches my speed. The only aftermarket parts I have done to that part of the car are some LCA with poly bushings.

I'm afraid that it's the differential. Can anybody tell me what it sounds like when the factory limited slip starts having problem?

it could be your drive shaft. the two piece design is noisey and makes rubbing or clunking sounds. i know mine does. i was told it had to do with the motor torque and weight transfer loading up my drive shaft. with 54000 miles you should still be under warrenty take it in and see what they say.

I bought my car in September of 2006, it's already out of warranty.

I thought it was 5 years, 60,000?

I've heard the drive shaft making the typical clunking noises, but this is different. It sounds like a metallic scratching sound, the frequency is matched with the wheel speed.

Hmm noise from rear end - sausage and sauerkraut for lunch>

Seriously - it sounds like the clutch pack going out on the tlok is the likely problem. Have you done burnouts or raced the car? Could be wheel bearing or carrier bearing (I had a noise that turned out to be a burr on the carrier bearing). But since it makes more noise if I read you correctly when turning, that points more to the clutch pack in the tlok.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of.

I guess I'll call the dealership up and see if it's still under warranty.

You can rebuild it fairly cheaply if it is the clutch pack, and go with the GT500 carbon fiber pack.
