Default 2011 Mustang GT Premium buying options

Hey guys, I am getting ready to buy a new/used Mustang in April/May timeframe. I used to have an 07 Mustang GT that I loved, and I'm dying for that 5.0. The problem is, it is nearly impossible to find what I am looking for: Automatic, Premium, Kona Blue. The color is flexible, but as this will be my DD and my wife can't drive a stick, the other 2 are not. I am looking to keep it under 28k or so if possible. I am seeing a lot of threads about people recently getting 2012s for 5-6k under MSRP, could I conceivably get a 2012 for the same price range?

that is a very common configuration. it's not like you are also requiring 3.55 gears and HIDs and blah blah. just a good ol auto premium with a color preference. perhaps you should expand your search radius?

it sounds like you also have another month or two for one to pop up.

I wouldn't be terribly concerned. I doubt you could get a 2012 premium gt for that low, unless it was used, but you could find a base model for sure.

tell your local dealership to look for one, they'll truck one in. I got mine for 6k off MSRP when the 2012's first came out, but i got x-plan pricing through my employer. I think most people getting these deals also get x or z-plan pricing or know the owners/managers of these dealerships. it's not like they are expert hagglers. typically you can expect to only about 2,000 off sticker price on top of incentives unless it gets near the end of the year. Like i bought my 2007 in October of 2007 and got it near invoice price.

I ordered mine to get exactly what I wanted, this normally leaves you with little/no haggle room though.

Yea definitely not wanting a base model, as an IT guy, I'm as big a fan of the toys as I am of the power. When will the 2013s start rolling out, and should I start seeing a bigger discount then? I've had a couple pop up, including this one:

I'm hoping I'll be able to test drive it tomorrow. Anyone know any good resources for buying used cars other than the typical cars.com, ebay motors, autotrader.com, craigslist, the normal stuff?

So I test drove a Kona Blue 2012 GT base model auto today.....and driving wise, absolutely loved it....it obviously wasn't as responsive as the manual, it was very impressive. Felt like it needed a tune to improve the downshift, but was incredibly fun either way. I didnt want to take any chances with a dealer car, so I didn't turn off the traction control completely. I did however, put the car in sport mode, and gave it about half throttle at a u-turn........wow there was a little spin but that car just dug in and flew around to the left. I was completely expecting the 235 tires to just completely loose out to 412 hp, but they hung on like a champ. Man I'm ready to get one of these......I also test drove a 2010 Taurus Limited, and played around with Sync. Definitely enjoyed that experience. I didn't download my phonebook, but I got a text from my wife, and it played and sent a text back perfectly over bluetooth. So here is a question....buying a 2011 base model GT automatic, what would my costs be to add leather and sync? I've seen a few posts about adding leather for under $500, a steering wheel for under $300, and Sync modules for under $300. Does this sound about right? And has anyone added the Sync module to a base model with a new steering wheel? Thanks!

i got my premium auto with side scoops hood scoop and rear cs spoiler and racing stripe with navigation all for 35k special order. sticker was 39k. so you should be able to find a premium for easy 28 k now. even less with the manual.

With good barganing skills, you should have little problem getting a '12 with decent equipment for under $30k.

Some of it can come down to finding a good dealer. There is a Loaded (heated seats, Nav, Glass roof) White 2012 auto that is up for 31k new near me (about 39k MSRP). It is a dealer that stocks up on Mustangs and F series trucks though so they have great incentives. Like Nuke said with the options you want you shouldn't have much trouble finding something for under 30k

Not to hijack this thread, and this question my help the OP.

Do you guys see a price drop for 11's/12's and maybe even the 10's as soon as the 2013 starts hitting lots possibly mid-year?Anything dramatic?

I too am in the market for a new one. I love my 2010 but I just have that itch. I made the mistake of biting on incentives when I bought mine. The 2011's just hit the lot and Ford was taking 7K off the 2010's. I should have just went with my gut and bought the 2011.

I have been talking to several dealerships and all off them are pretty much wanting to come off around 2K on top of the 3K in incentives for a total of 5K. I called Ford directly today to ask when the 2013's are going to hit the lot and they said at the end of this month or early April.

The 2013 options additions are definitely nice but I am mainly going after that motor. I am in a pickle because I feel that the incentives will increase once the 2013's hit the lot but I might miss out on the 2012 I want by waiting.
