Should I get a Mustang?

Should I get a Mustang?
Obviously a loaded question for a Mustang forum...
I'm a 30 year old guy, and in the past I've always gotten normal (a.k.a. boring) cars, like a Nissan Altima or Mitsubishi Lancer. This summer I'll be getting something new, and I've really been considering getting something a little more fun, like a Mustang.
The thing is, I'm not really a car guy, so I don't really know how to intelligently shop for this kind of a car. I've been thinking about getting a red GT convertible. I want to have a car that's fun to drive, and one that people notice.
Can you guys give me a little insight to help me make this decision? I will be shopping around for a few other models, like a Camaro, Challenger, or maybe a few other models, so is there something concrete I should keep in mind that makes the Mustang a better choice? I want to keep price, mileage, and just overall style in mind when I make my decision.
Thanks from a possible future Mustang enthusiast...

The Mustang is a great looking car bone stock, we all have our preferences when it comes to modifications and we are somewhat biased being this is a Mustang forum. But, I would say buy the car, it is a classic and it will get you noticed, especially in Race Red.

Don't know if you posted on any other forum that pertains to the other models listed. If you didn't then I would say you've made your choice. Welcome to MF and we can't wait to see pics of your new 2013 Race Red Convertible Mustang.

Welcome! This was my first mustang and I'll tell you that I had a few other choices of American muscle and nothing sounds like a mustang gt. I am so happy I chose this mustang. I say go for it like everyone else. You won't regret it.

I would pass on the vert and just get a hardtop. Soft tops offer no security when parking your car. Too easy for ******** to cut the roof and steal whatever they are after.
My 06 is my first mustang and I couldnt be happier. 2013 models look amazing too...........go for it. Nothing boring about owning a mustang.

As much as I love the performance increases made with the coyote 5.0's, the new styling leads me away from the mustang towards the challenger. The challenger seems to keep with its old-school looks...with the modern mustang, well not so much
I know, I know, blasphemy right?...well here's the cure!
Buy a used 08-09 GT500 with low miles and call it a day
