Default Selling a Moded GT question

I'm not getting any younger and my dream car is a GT500 which leads to the question of selling the GT.
For those of you with experience or an opinion on the matter, is the best approach to put the car back to stock and sell the Whipple kit, tires/wheels, lowering kit/springs, etc? Or can you get a decent price for some of those mods?
Realizing I wont get a full refund for the aftermarket stuff, but I'm not willing to take a beating either. Interested in hearing some reports.

BTW, 07 GT Premium, (the cleanest daily driver you'll find) 56K miles, Whippled, lowered, everything works.

I consider parting out the mods vs. selling it as-is being relatively equal. The effort to return the car to stock and having to seel the pieces plays significantly into that call (at least for me). I think you can find a buyer that appreciates what you've done and, although you won't get top dollar for those mods, will be willing to lay out something to both yours and his/her satisfaction.

You will never get as much as a package as
you would by removing all the mods and selling
them separately. Unless you find that one unique
buyer that understands and wants what you
have put together. But they rarely pay top $$
for your mods.

If you still have all the stock parts to take it back to stock you will make more of a return if you go back to stock. If you have to scrounge up stock parts then sell it as is. You will actually have an easier time selling it completely stock then you would selling with all the mods. People are afraid of mods they don't know anything about and also think the car has been abused if it is modded.

I've done this first hand with my 95 5.0 that I'm in the process of selling.

At one point it was supercharged and had a lot more on it than it does today. Anything of real value I pulled off and it has went highly in my favor. I'm going to get a total of around $9000 for all the parts I sold plus the car vs the $5000 or $6000 I would have gotten as a package.

Mods don't raise the value of the car if anything they can hurt the value. So strip off as much as you can (S/C, air intakes, pullies, tuner, etc) and return it as much as possible to stock and sell the rest. You will only get 40-60% of the value back on the parts you bought, but that's better than 0-30% of value selling as a package.

I just traded my 07 GT in. Returned to stock minus gears/tuner/UDP.

I sold almost everything on this forum and ebay.

FRPP intake manifold
CAI
PANHARD
h pipe
mufflers
chin spoiler
ducktail wing
some grill pieces
lca's

and a few more parts... netted around $1600... dealer offer 0 - Usually the sales/shop guys will yank a lot of parts off before it hits the line.

Like above post... if you can find someone who appreciates it, it's not worth the hassle of returning to stock... If you trade it..... You will have tax savings + retailing your parts which will be equal to selling privately most likely.
