Default Roush Axle-Back Exhaust Opinions please

I got a chance to buy this slightly used system. My concern is...there must be a reason they are taking it off. Maybe they are just installing a full system etc? I don't know....I don't want to be in the same boat in a few weeks.

I had a couple questions/observations...
1. American Muscle has this and its got a LOT of good reviews
2. They are only asking $300 (retails for $469) so seems like a good deal
3. Should I jump on it? or go another way? Im mostly looking for that aggressive sound, but not annoying. I like the radio and having the top down etc. I don't think this will give me anymore HP or Torque but that would be a plus if it
4. lastly, do I limit myself from adding X-pipes in the future? I hear that is a HP gain by doing that and I might go that way someday. I JUST started researching exhausts today because of this deal...I really don't know much about it other than its on the to-do list.

Thanks! Any and all opinions are welcome!

FYI..I got a 2011 GT manual

Just make sure it is not the "off road" version. They drone at almost all speeds.
My mechanic tried them and took them off at 50 miles.

+1. Roush's look good and are loud. If that's your thing, then go for it. If you don't like drone, they're not for you.

I personally love the Roush off road cat back. i love loud.
the axle backs are not as loud, but sound very good. i would compare them to Borla S type with a little deeper tone.
the Roush axle back should also sound good with an x pipe.
but my idea of good may not be yours.
as long as the axle backs are in good condition, go for it.
the seller may be selling just bc they want a change. i have sold many exhaust parts just bc i wanted something different.

I'm thinking of going for it. I like something noticeable...but not super loud or annoying. He said they were only installed for a day or two thats why I was worried. I may go for it.... Ive listened to a ton of sound clips and they all sound very close to the same..unless you go with an extreme.

Thanks!

And it does sound like I can add X pipes down the road...thats a good thing.

thing is, they are pretty damn loud, even just mufflers and nothing else. I too was in your spot, and I decided to go w/ GT500 axlebacks, and if I want more volume, i can open up the rest of the exhaust and get some performance with it.

I'm sure they'll be an improvement in tone but don't expect ANY performance gains. And with axlebacks, you're not impacting any future change to the OE H-pipe.

As an in-between the Ford Racing Axle backs are great if you want something louder than the gt500 that still works with an O/R mid-pipe. Though for that kind of money you could get a number of systems.

I think they sound great. Stay off the gas and they just have a nice rumble to them. Open it up and they freakin scream. Drone is only noticeable when going up a hill in 6th gear.
