#2 was my leak problem. Rust on the seat brackets means nothing. Look up under the dash, you'll see plenty of surface rust on the unpainted metal.

Google TSB 07-14-6

1) Two Rubber grommets in firewall get plugged up with leaves, etc.
2) Foam seals around the 10 windshield cowl mounting tabs.
3) The entire windshield cowl welded seam at the top of the firewall under the windshield cowl.
4) Rubber grommets entering the cabin thru the firewall.
5) Rubber grommets in both doors where they attach to the car body.

Well I got to look at it in the light this morning and noticed the rubber on the cowl itself also has a hole in it. Took a pic do you think this should be replaced?

Where can I get a new foam gasket and plastic grommet? And is there any other sealant besides paying Ford whatever they want for theirs? What I think was happening was the rubber drain grommmet was blocked causing the water to damn up once it got so high and I parked on a hill it ran to the broken plastic grommet and into cab. I hope anyway.

Ok well after reading the TSB I ordered 10 of the heat shrink ones I hope this solves the problem. Very nice of Ford to charge $5.60 a piece for something they messed up on.

I didn't see that this was ever actually answered, but if the 2 grommets on the firewall get clogged with debris, water can collect there and then overflow into the passenger foot well through the cabin air filter opening. I tend to check those every time I change my oil since you can get to them so easily.

You need to be careful with the "hot glue" Ford replacements, you could damage the paint or windshield if not careful. BTW, I still had leaks after using the new Ford replacements so I used some Automotive Goop and finally solved my leaks.

I just used silicone sealant. Remove the foam gaskets and use some gasket maker from the auto parts store or clear silicone.

I know the tsb says not to use silicone, but they are the same people that used foam as a gasket, so what do they know.

Why don't they want you to use silicone?

I used body seam sealer from an Automotive paint supply house, worked great. Never had leaks again. I bought new grommets but it was a waste of money since I ended up gluing them in with seam sealer. I could've done the same with the old ones.
(This was all done on my 05 btw)

I don't know, but I remember it was in the original tsb.
