2010 vs 2011 GT
I am about to buy a Mustang GT and am not sure on a 2010 or a 2011. In either case I have isolated the Premium model with a stick and the trackpack option. I know the 2011 has a LOT more horsepower but in the tests I read, the differences in performance while real are not that staggering.
So what I am interested in are opinions on fuel mileage and/or reliability between the 4.6 with a 5 speed and a 5.0 with the 6. Any feedback would be helpful.

I owned both. Well, a 2010 Premium GT and a 2012 Premium GT (and now a 2013). Go with the Coyote. On long trips, if I'm remembering correctly, I averaged very similar mileage. Also the Coyote performance is amazing. The only complaint I had about the 2012 was that 2nd and 3rd gear could be notchy at times.

I would not buy a 2011 just I would not buy a 2005 or 2006. First year build models have a number of problems that unless it was fixed under a TSB by a previous owner, you may get stuck fixing them out of your own pocket.
Get a 2012+ While stock for stock a 4.6L 3v vs a 5.0L 4v may not impress people a lot in their differences, a 4V motor will always respond better to mods.

The difference between a 2010 GT and 2011 GT is... the same as the difference between a 2010 4.0 vs 2010 4.6.. or 2011 3.7 vs 2011 5.0.
It may not be that "staggering" on paper.. but it is in real life driving... like many car lengths. Not dissing the 2010 at all.. but the gap is significant in the power department. Ive driven a 4.0, 4.6, and 5.0.. and "played" with more than a few 4.6s. My buddies with 4.6s didn't have a chance, despite my first time playing being the first week i owned the 11' and hadn't driven a 6 speed.
The 4.6 is rock solid. If you are not concerned about power in a big way, go with it. If you think you'll be saving for FI after the first time you are overtaken by a 5.0 in traffic.. the extra cost of the 5.0 is a better deal than paying to match the power with upgrading a 4.6.
