GT/CS or Shelby GT500
Hi guys,
I am from New Zealand and am interested in importing a S197 Mustang with preference been towards a 2007/2008 model in manual.
Strict NZ import rules state that the car model/submodel must have being produced in low numbers and thus a GT/CS or GT500 is the preferred choice.
My issue is this - what car should I buy? I have long been a fan of the GT/Cs as I love the look of them. I do realise that they are just a dressed up standard GT but they are also a limited edition model, as is the GT500.
As these cars are very rare in NZ, it makes test driving them very hard. It makes it even harder to compare the two together as GT500 are just not seen for sale very often.
Is the GT500 worth the extra money on top of the GT/CS? Does the GT500 require more maintenance than a standard GT? The fact the car is supercharged is not a huge deal to me as the car will never put on the track, nor will it be driven daily. The purpose of importing a Mustang is to have a nice car to drive when the weather is fine - but we also want a car that is "limited edition," will hold its value and be different to the common GT's seen over here.
I guess the main question is how much fun is each car to drive? Is the supercharged engine the be all and end all of the car?
Obviously it is not cheap to import an American car so we want to do this once and do it right!!
Thanks

GT500, no choice. everything that a GT/CS has that makes it special can be purchased and applied to a GT for little money.
I should know, I have the GT/CS grilles, foglights, and rear valence on my car, which is good enough for me.

no idea if still available, but I came across this while bored at work. Would think its hard to beat price wise. Unsure if you know someone over here to inspect or are you planning to fly over.

gt500 since its supercharged and has like 250 more hp than the same year gt/cs..
gt/cs upgrades are just visual
gt500 upgrades are both visual and a ton of performance, completely different engine, transmission, suspension, and supercharged...
