Default Exhaust question, your thoughts?

I went to a recommended exhaust shop today and they told me that if I wanted a better sound for my stock exhaust that they would cut out the resonators and put in either VR or VX series mufflers which are basically Flowmaster ones. They quoted my 375 out the door. What are your thoughts?

I was going to go with either Bassani or MBRP axleback, but thought I would see what you guys and gals thought with their suggestion.

I am looking for something that is not too crazy loud but sounds great with little or no drone. Unfortunately I cannot spend the 750 for borla or corsa.

Try seeing if you can find one of those set ups on YouTube for you to listen to. The audio won't be the same...but you'll get a better picture of how it sounds to you.

What is your max budget? You get what you pay for and exhaust is a big "smile factor" for your car. I grin like an idiot every time I crank my car and every time I push the pedal down way more than I should.

Well the Bassani was about 500 so I would say my budget is about 500. Also from the videos I have seen, the resonator delete sounds more raspy, not exactly what I am looking for. Is that just my ears or does deleting the resonators sound raspy?

Bassani are among the loudest axlebacks for our cars. As loud as muffler delete but much smoother.

Deleting your resonators could make it raspier but since you have stock manifolds and a factory catted h pipe, you should be gtg.

If you decide to go catless, that is where you'll get the farting sound.

resonators are there to address droning at a particular frequency. as Ricardo said, the cats are what really suppress the raspiness. when I had my SRT-4 (which didn't have mufflers from the factory) it was a lot harsher when cold. once the cat(s) heated up, it mellowed out.

I am going to keep the cats on there, I have been looking online and if I delete resonators, the GT500 axle backs sound really good. Alone the GT500 mufflers are a little bit deeper tone than stock, but add deleted resonators and it sounds great from what I hear.

However the GT500 mufflers are big like stock and something like bassani weight significantly less.

I have Magnaflow competition exhaust with the O/R X pipe. It is causing hearing loss. Now, it sounds awesome and certainly turns heads (especially every cop I drive past), but it is becoming tiresome as a daily driver. It also drones badly at low RPM. My tuner has told me quieter mufflers would not cost me any whp, so does anyone recommend good mufflers that will fit on my 3" pipes and be livable as a daily driver with 520whp?

2011, do the sportline give you any issues, I put on pro kit springs and I like them but to me, the rear still seems a little high. I just bought the track pack 19" rims so I will see what they look like.

I hear that sportlines wear out the stock springs struts and you need camber plates also. I just did camber bolts for the pro kit.

The sport lines are quite low. I don't call them speed bumps, I call them speed mountains. They also ride VERY stiff but that was expected. I had to modify my 3" exhaust pipes because they were hitting the rear axle after lowering. I am pretty sure I just had the camber bolts installed before the car could be aligned, not the camber plates. My shop did the work.

I spoke with the people at American Muscle and they stated that the Kooks axleback is a close second to the Corsa so I decided to get the Kooks since it is about 150 dollars less. We will see how that sounds.
