Nothing..... just find an authorized Roush Dealer a get the super charger and the cold air intake - see picture for CAI & strut that goes with it. Also get a simple, inexpensive shock mount strut because the front end will twist with the extra torque. Frankly, I think any other mods are not much bang for the buck. That combo gives 427 HP and more HP is very hard to get to the ground up to 60 MPH. I've driven Cobras & you don't get much use of the extra power until you are past 50 MPH and I don't care much to drive 150 MPH and lose my car, die, or kill some family on the highway. The 4.6L with a Roush Supercharger is a great, liveable combination. Good mileage, drives like Grandma's car until you put your foot in it! I think the 4.6L and the 5.0L are the best engines in a Mustang. A new or low mileage 4.6L or 5.0L give you a lot more back for the buck than buying a new Cobra in the 60K range! It won't have a Cobra badge, but there will be a smile on your face!

Default Warranties

Contrary to what dealership scare tactics, there is case law that requires that the auto manufacturer prove that the modification you made caused damage that should not be covered by thier warranty. My local, lousy dealer told me that a CAI would violate the warranty and they wouldn't repair anything on the car. Luckily, our big, bad socialist government and it's court system has case law pretecting us from such crap. In '08 I had a Roush supercharger on my cMustang (below) and Ford replaced the transmission which had a bad bearing as there was no sign of any abuse.

That is not to say that local dealerships will not give you a hassle out of ignorance and negative attitude. Go to three dealerships and you will get three answers, many out of pure ignorance about their own products! Most buyers know more than the geniuses at tht local dealership! My dealership wizard told me any and all CAI's where a detriment, etc. until I showed him one on a new Bullitt Mustang they were trying to sell. I've bought three expensive Ford products recently and not one of them from my local "know it all" dealership!

Default The Introductory Mod: The Cold Air Intake (CAI) + Tune

Best bang for your buck...everyone has told me to start here and that's exactly what I did.

One JLT CAI and Bama Tune purchase later (thanks to AmericanMuscle!), I had a friend help me install the sucker (always helps to have an extra pair of hands to wiggle and hold things into place...that and the fact I've never fiddled around with car innards before). The instructions were pretty straight forward, but I also viewed JLT's official youtube video of assembly for an extra viewpoint on installation (I'm not exactly the most visually/spacially gifted individual).

1 hour later or so, with a Bama tune installed, the car....well, it didn't all of a sudden become a supernova force of speed....however, with the super 93 tune from Bama, you really can feel a good pull as you pull higher and higher RPMS. However, what I really love is the inhaling/sucking sound of the CAI as it pulls at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). With my top down, it really does sound good!

All in all, I can't complain as this mod was relatively inexpensive (don't forget to google American Muscle Coupon if you haven't reached the 50 post threshold to PM for discount code) and easy to put into place.

Now I'm looking to get a little more exotic with a complete exhaust system, from long-tube to O/R H pipe to a Roush Extreme Performance Catback....any ideas for header and mid-pipe combos? I'd love to get a solid old-school muscle sound, and h-pipe seems to be the way to go from what I've read.

Default Mild Comp Thumber Cams???

Got an 05 GT Vert 5 speed with all the mods including Kooks LTH. Getting close to Comp (Mild) cams. Anyone out there got these? Experience, suggestions, HP after installiation, and just general thoughts. Did it improve the sound greatly? Thanks

Got the Brenspeed Detriot Rockers, Steeda Under drive pullys, C/L CAI/Brenspeed tune, 4.10 gears. Mac Prochamber w/cats. Will a new Throttle Body and those delete plates help. The car runs fast but just want more as always.
