Smile Forged Motor on the way!

Well two days ago I dropped off my car at the House of Boost ( www.houseofboost.com ) to get a forged bottom end. Im on a budget (i know not wise) but I really do have to keep the build below 5K. Here is what has been ordered already:

1) Diamond Dished Pistons (~9.3ish c/r)
2) Manley Forged Connecting rods
3) Manley Rings
4) New Clevite main bearings
5) Melling Oil pump with billet gears
6) Head cooling mod
7) All ARP hardware

My stock block is getting bored .20 over, and stock crank is getting freshened up for re-use.

I'm really excited about this project but also a little iffy...hope it all works out :-)

Damn dude! Go ahead with yo bad self. Maybe take some close up pics of the tear down and put together and bless us with some insight of what's going on in our motors. Be really cool to see the stuff that we're always talking about. Hope it goes well brother, keep us posted!

Woohoo congrats! I want to do this eventually so I can race her, and the rear as well. Good luck with the build! Post up some pics when she's done!

Awesome man. Make sure to have them do a valve job on the heads as well. Also, a new clutch while everything is apart if you're still on the stocker. Free labor for puttig the clutch in.

ha! boost it baby...just a thought, i was reading on boost and c/r and that kinda thrash for a little project im planning, and it looks like a 9.0:1 CR is optimal for any kind of forced induction.

Do some more research and you'll find that you can't always get the exact ratio you want with what parts are available. Using JE Pistons like I did, I could get a 10cc or a 17cc dish which would be around a 9.3 or an 8.5

you could use a thicker head gasket to knock of the .3
you can always get what you want, just how much more will it take is the question

That will make your quence distance even worse. You don't want to do that.

...it works for gm, it works for mopar....and it doesn't take much to drop .3 CR and if it was so bad why do they offer different size gaskets
