It improves the driving feel alot, is easier on the tranny, and can be changed back easily if so desired. Have fun with her and we're here to help.
A friend of mine recommended the short throw shifter and he and his son installed one on his Cobra (pre 03). I'll consider it for sure, but right now I love the feel and position of the stock shifter.

I know I'll never have to look twice to find my car in a parking lot.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks. I love it. I still can't believe I basically got a brand new 03 Mach 1. The car even seems to have that new car smell.

I've had the Mach 1 for a little over a month and it still is such a blast to drive. A definite eye-catcher on the road too. I'm sure those of you with Mach 1s are used to the visual attention you get with one of these jewels.

The car feels powerful enough even at lower rpms, but becomes a monster over 4,000. The thing that continues to surprise me is the better gas mileage I am getting with it compared to my old 96 Z28 and 03 V6 Mustang. In fact, the Mach 1 is almost getting me as good gas mileage as my 02 Eclipse GT.

Driving the Mach 1 makes me wonder why anyone would part with one. Then again, if people kept them, then I wouldn't have this beauty to drive and enjoy.

Less lag in the valve train with DOHC and the perfect OD gear. Have you gone on any trips in it yet? With the cruise control between 75/80 I get 27.5 mpg on the hwy and have heard people getting as high as 29 mpg. Daily around town driving with 4.10s I've gotten as high as 23 mpg. I'd like to know if there's ever been another car with the combo of performance/economy as ours.

I've been quite impressed with the economy of this performer. I was averaging around 15-17 mpg with my Z-28 around town (trips around 27-28). The V6 Mustang was lucky to get me 17 or 18 (and with a LOT less performance). I've averaged 19-21 mpg in the Mach 1 and I can't really say that I've babied it. My Eclipse GT usually gets me 20-22 mpg in the same circumstances and I've been quite happy with that. To get similar numbers in a much more powerful car is an added bonus.

I do have a trip to Virginia planned in late September or early October. I can't wait to see how it performs on the open road. I will keep a bit more to the right though with my "stand out" yellow Mach 1.

Thanks.

It was like stepping in a time warp, buying a new 03 Mach 1, and bringing it back to the present. Looks, drives, and feels like new.

What a great car to drive! It's been a while since I've had a manual with this much get up and go. The power of the Mach 1 is intoxicating. I can't see ever getting tired of it. Sitting in the driver's seat and looking out over that power dome and shaker is as good as it gets. Never had a car that looked that impressive from the driver's seat.
