Default finished install on intake spacer..guess what!!

ok, just finished the intake spacer and after following every step I still messed up the egr bolts. I think I cross threaded the rear bolt and there is a slight gap. The car stumbles and idles like it has a cam. There is also a hissing sound coming from the upper intake area. Im pretty sure its the egr. I called my builder and he is going to have a delete kit for me in the morning. I hope that is the problem, what do you guys think?

Is this on a 5 litre or a 4.6...if the latter is the case you wasted your time and money for no gain however the 5.0 seems to respond well to the added volume

954 don't pay that ***** any mind even if his dumb arss writes back. Yeah man I'd say that gap should be the problem if you made no other changes. With your fitment issue, am I correct in assuming you got the 1/2" spacer? I'm running out of modestly priced bolt-ons to get, but I'm going 3/8" if I get one, I hear it's much easier to hook the EGR back up.

Does the egr delete make any more power?

954 let us know if you do see any gains. I was thinking of doing this myself but there is alot of conflicting info. Gains vs. no gains? I would say the gap is your problem. You could try running a tap into the hole to try to straighten out the threads. Don't break off the tap whatever you do.

I am getting the delete kit tomorrow. I will see when I take out the bolt if I will have to retap the hole, I hope not!! The gains seem to widen the power band on both hp and tq, but mostly tq. The tq, while maybe only 6-10 ft pounds will come on sooner and stay longer! We will see tomorrow, thanks for the replies!

I also had trouble with the egr bolts when i installed the spacer. didnt cross thead em tho. i would say you prolly have a vacuum leak at the egr valve. have fun removing the egr tube from inbetween the head and firewall, I had to cut mine to get it out. Also I would suggest a hand-held tuner so you can turn the cel off when you unhook the egr system. And to answer the other posters question. No removing the egr does not add power.

Yea I have the diablo tuner to take care of that. I didnt know you have to take the whole egr pipe out. I though you just unscrew the egr and plug the pipe with the nut that comes in the kit.
