Well first, welcome.

Second, it depends. The mufflers will require no change in tune. However, depending on what intake you get you may need a tune to compensate for the increased air flow.

In all honesty, if you see an intake that advertises it doesn't need a tune, it's not worth it.

Where are you located?

Also, being new I'll let you off the hook, but this topic has been covered a billion times in the Tech section, so do a little search next time to find some starter info. I'll help all i can till you decide though

Thanks for your input. I'll check the Tech section as you suggested.

I'm located in Walpole.

+1

The intake will lean out your AFR's. And, as stated above, if an intake does "not require a tune", it's not going to give you the performance gains your looking for.

Getting a hand-held tuner will not only be the "safe" route for running an intake, but it will give you the increase in power and throttle response that your looking for.

I hope that helps, yay for bringing back an old thread

The Shelby muffler sound cool. My friend has them on his 08 Bullitt. They are a great choice.

As for the cold air intake, all they really are is a hot air intake. I have had them on a few vehicles before and I'll never buy one again. I had one on our 97 Cobra and my 95 F150. There were absolutely no gains at all except for more noise. Both vehicles ran worse on hot summer days and they both got noticably worse fuel economy, even in the winter. These are the best examples, since I had the setup on them for about a year. I put them both back to stock a long time ago and they are staying that way. Besides those oiled filters like KN don't filter all that well anyway and they can foul the MAF. This happened to my friend shortly after he got a KN drop in replacement filter.

The stock intake is actually already a cold air intake and is better than the aftermarket stuff. I would think that the Ford engineers know what they are doing. They don't spend all that money on the design work for nothing.

I'm usually not in this section, but I noticed this thread an thought I would save you some money.

How are they a hot air intake? I don't understand what you mean by that.

I gotcha you don't like em, to each their own. :-)
