So I grabbed a 2000 GT vert with 105k on the clock.

Hurst Shifter
BBK 70mm TB
BBK CAI
New rims and tires
$6000.00

It needs a new top but this one will get me through for now.

Plan to change it back to factory as much as possible.

Thank you for rescuing that GT. I assume first order of bidness is to get rid of those blu lights(?) in the grille? Congrats on the purchase.

Wow that engine bay is clean. What wheels are those, they look like 2010+ gt wheels that where painted black.

They match the 2010 GT wheels in black on American Muscle so it wouldn't surprise me.

This was a 2000 GT Special Edition, so the original 17" wheels from the 99-04 years found on Deluxe models were machine faced on S/E models (I found one in the trunk as a spare. If could find 4 in new or like new condition I want to swap'em out.

Took the gauge pillar out today, and the little blue fog lights in the grill come out next (waiting on my new headlights and taillights to arrive before I take that.

MAACO said they can do a base coat clear cost on the car with a sand down and primer for $1200.00 in the original factory silver, so I am going to schedule that in before the new top this way of it gets over spray on the top I don't care as it will be thrown out and replaced.

Slowly taking the stripes off with some elbow grease and ARDEX to remove residue.

Posted fresh pics in the 1st post.

It has 99 mustang emblems on it.

And lucky for you they already swapped out the intake for a 01+ one with the aluminum crossover.

I know... came that way... Have the GT ones ready to slap on, but I have to finish stripe removal, as well as get it repainted.

And what machined wheels are you talking about? The only ones I know of offered were on the 99 35th anniversary edition mustangs.
