Talk about bringing back memories. My first Stang was an '88 LX 5.0 in dark gray- awesome car for the day & a true understated sleeper. They never saw ya coming. And talk about ice cold air- you coulda hung meat in that car.
Drive her vigorously. She can take it.

Thanks for the comments! I like best that it's my favorite body style, a hatch hardtop (no sunroof or t tops), and that it's a 5 speed. I forgot to mention that it has some subframe connectors welded in also. The A/C works great in this car too, which I'm pretty happy about right now lol.
My plans for it are pretty basic.
Gonna go to 3.27 or 3.55 gears
clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster
Pro 5.0 shifter
convert to MAF
GT40 heads
Trick Flow stage 1 cam
1.6 roller rockers
Explorer intake

Solid plans for a decent bump in power.....
But I'd definitely go with at least a 3:55 gear. You'll probably pick up 30-40 hp with that list so a steeper gear will really help. And if your worried about fuel economy or cruising rpm, gears really don't hurt it that much. I'm still getting mid 20's on the highway with 3:55's and at 75 mph my rpm is right around 2400-2500, depending on which tach I trust.
