'96 Cobra 4.6 into '00 GT
I believe the engine I'm picking up comes with the wiring harness, but I've only seen it once so I'm not 100% certain. Aside from that, what else will I need to change over? Advice is always welcome and a good book on the swap would be ideal. Thanks.

you need a dyno tune and IMRC deletes, other than the it will drop in and wire up with a cobra harness or a modified gt harness. The only thing im not sure about is your returnless fuel system, I'd imagine with a tune it will be fine.

Just make sure you get it done to legal specs. As an ex-Texan, they are very picky about swaps when you get the annual inspection done. Due to it being an older motor in a newer car, many places will fail you.
Just food for thought.

@Uber: Is the IMRC delete mandatory? Id prefer to keep it so I don't kill my low end torque. I plan on boosting, but id still prefer to just retune their opening rpm.
@LilRoush: How would I go about doing that? I would prefer to stay legal, but I'm not gonna let it stop me.
Thanks guys.

Unless u gett he IMRC controls and a cobra ecu, your current ecu wont have perimeters to open or close the IMRC even with a tune, as far as legal is concerned check with your state, in PA its as easy as applying for a modifed vehicle registration.

Most bigger cities/metro areas in Tx won't allow it since it's an older motor into a newer car.
Some will let that slide, but you'll need all the pollution control stuff working (EGR specficially will be checked) and you'll have to pass with GT level emissions on the sniffer since the car is a GT.

@Uber: The IMRC controls are separate from the cobra ecu? I'm familiar with the IMRC and what it does, but I didn't realize it required any extra controls aside from the ecu.
@LilRoush: Gotcha. Thanks for the heads up. I'll certainly look in to that.

Your 2000 GT did not come with IMRC, the computer can't control it because it doesn't know it exists.

I know. My 2000 GT didn't come with four camshafts either. Lol
