1) Mustangs will never be as fast as a corvette, GT500 or not.
2) I would even go as far to say that the new Camaro will be as fast or faster than the GT500.
3) Why didn't they use carbon fiber for the floor panels instead of balsa wood? Because they used laminated balsa wood pressed between two pieces of carbon fiber... each floor panel wieghs in at 7 lbs. They used this on the C5 as well.
4) The Z06 is far more rigid than your car is so dont tell us about how much safer your car is because the corvette uses balsa wood
1.) gonna be much easier to mod a GT500 than a vette. . . better believe a modded one will be slapping the vettes. . .

2.) 400-420 hp with about the same weight will not even be close to a GT500's 500 hp and 485 ft lbs of trq . . . 12.24 stock . . . LS2 GTO's, barely getting low 13's

3.) don't know or care

4.) nothing is safe about a lightweight fiberglass car. . .

just my .02

Didn't someone already post a dyno slip of a GT500 putting down 412 to the wheels? Also I did not think the new maro would be that heavy, my bad.

It has also been discovered that you cannot just do a simple pully swap on the GT500 hasnt it? I think the Z06 will respond MUCH better to mods than the GT500 will, throw some nitrous on the Z06 and the GT500 doesnt even have a prayer.

Nitrous???

put that on either one and it cancels out. . .

how about a blower on that Z06 . . . nah. . . better not, might throw a rod or crack a piston . . . :-)

im sure it won't be as easy as a pully swap. . . but i don't think its gonna be much harder

ford always keeps aftermarket thoughts in mind with cars like this . . . you know, cuz they in it themselves . . . Ford Racing

I don't know all the technical numbers and everything but how much hp at the wheels would a GT500 need to keep up with a stock Z06? What about a Z06 with some simple bolt ons? I mean I dont know a ton about either cars so Im most likely wrong but a GT500 would need some serious engine work to keep up with a bolt on Z06.

The new camaro will not be as fast as the GT500 and probably will be even or possibly slower than the new mustang GT's. The new camaro if they build it will weigh MORE than the 04-06 GTO's it's going to be in the neighborhood of 4200lbs. It will be HEAVY, unlike the originals. If the best they can do is the lS2 then the new camaros are going to be no match for the GT500's and Mustang GT's.

As for the corvette VS. Gt500, the GT500 will always be a safer car as well as a mustang GT. I would think all the GT500 will need to spank corvettes is full length headers and a tune and you can change pullies on the GT500 but you need to change another part first. I'd think by the time you did full length headers a tune and increased boost you'd be at 600+ horsepower. You'd probably need more on the vette to equal the modded GT500.

You guys need to remember that the auto industry year starts in september.they are to come out in 09,That is probably why there is so much confusion as to when they are being released. As far as all you camaro/chevy HATERS go, LETS just wait and see what they have behind them.If you think for a minute they are going to bring this thing out under powered after all this time. you are dreaming!!

I don't expect GM will let it hit the markets underpowered. Its just a matter of how bad they're gonna rape the consumers' wallets to get behind the wheel of one. If you think you're gonna see a 400+hp LS2 powered Z28 for 26-27K.......then you are dreaming. Personally I'm not worried. I've already gone ahead and ponied up to 460hp for the new arrivals.

in car & driver where they compared the C6 to the GT500 it also pinned the 68' GT500 428ci against 68' vette 427ci the 1/4 miles times where damn close the stang running it in 13.9 @ 103 and the vette at 13.8 @ 105 so at one point in time these cars were comparable hard to believe but yes ...........
"Mustangs will never be as fast as a corvette, GT500 or not." WRONG
