08s are nice but there is nothing like a good old car... old cars are not as bad as DD as people think (My DD is a 72 stang) and there is something to be said for the body lines of the classics... they are more rare, are more simple (much easier to maintain and toy with), will always get more looks and i can not think of many things that would be as cool as opening your garage and looking at a 68 KR in factory new condition... something truly American in the classics... the 08 is no slouch (by which i mean totally bad@$$) but its no icon of 60s American ingenuity and art either.

While the '08 would be a much better drive day in and day out. I'd take the '68 for one reason...$$$$$$ '68 is worth atleast twice what an '08 is worth. My grandfather had a '69 Shelby GT500 vert up to a few years ago and it was a great great car to drive and looks much better then IMO. His was a 428 Super Cobra Jet, Drag pack, Race Pack car. It looked like the car below except without the black hoodstrips(which I think look bad considering the rest of the car had white strips) and his had a white interior. The car below is a '70, 1970 GT500's were just left over '69 GT500's with the VINs changed and black hood strips thrown on.

BEWARE OF THIS SELLER. He will sell you junk and call you an idiot for falling for it. Know what you are buying! Admin

Somebody before mentioned the reason he would pick 68 is $$$$$, but in the article it's stated you wouldnt be able to resale if you won it. Anyways my vote goes for 08. I love and respect old school, but I'm in my 20s and this is my age so I want the best of it.

I guess they aren't reading the rules!
It said you can't sell the car! So who cares about how much either car is worth, as nothing is worth ANYTHING if you can't sell it. Obviously, if the cars have low miles the 68 is the best investment. They aren't making any more of those!
But I wonder how many have driven the older Mustangs. Even the Shelby's are blown away by the current GT's performance, ride, mpg, not to mention modern AC, power windows, locks & seats. Having to use the 68 as a daily driver would mean driving slower because the brakes are no where near as good as the new one's.
Not to mention the fact that my 2008 GT500KR would have the glassback roof! Just like the first did!

Also I didn't know that you couldn't sell the car. The OP said nothing about that. I'd still take a brand new '68 KR. Driving a '68 KR would be a special experience. I can make any new GT as fast as a '08 KR for less then 8k. Plus you would probably get more attention driving downtown in a '68 then an '08 or a Ferrari, RR, Lambo, etc for that matter. Still take a '68

Dude, 68 all the way. first of all, you could get a/c, and I think Powerstearing was an option. (not that it maters, non powerstearing isn't that bad, you just have to get used to it. and the windows on antique cars are better for cooling off the car than new cars.)
I know the difference in performance is huge, but you have to think, this is a classic head turner that has 335ish horse power and can take the twisties. Even though the 08 model has 500+ hp, you have to think of STYLE, the 68 womps so hard on the 08 when it comes to the looks and style department...you see a guy cruiseing in a 08 KR and he looks cool, you see a guy cruiseing in a 68 KR and he looks bad ***, even if he is the worlds most uncool guy.
Not to say that the new KR doesn't look great, cause it does, it is a beautiful car, but the 68 is a better looking car. (IMO)
Got to go classic on this one.
