Grey Ghost, I'm sure the 05-10 V8 Stangs will barely outrun a 2011 V6 Stang. But, even if it doesn't, you can't stop progress. Ford has not screwed over 05-10 GT owners. I have an 08 and want to drive it until it falls apart. On the other hand the new V6 has me salivating because it has plenty of power, rides better and quieter...it's a nicer car all around. From my link above it doesn't say exactly the weight of the car but does say it weighs in below 3500 lbs.

I have mixed feelings about this v6. While I love that Ford has finally grown some ***** and is stepping up to the plate to compete with the new camaro's, I feel like they've screwed over current s197 Gt owners.
What are peoples thoughts on whether a 05-09 Gt will be able to beat an 11 V6 in the 1/4 mile? or will it even be able to? Usually Ford waits at least a few years to come out with another engine that has higher horsepower or about equal to than the higher model up car - Ex. the 2005 GT has 300hp, which finally caught up with say a 1998 Cobra that has 305hp, and the 1996 GT had 215hp and the 2005 v6 has 210hp, etc. That was like 10-15 years before they became faster then their bigger brothers.
I really hope that my 2007 GT with it's higher torque will still be able to beat a 2011 V6 because nothing will **** me off more then when a 16 punkass says his mommies new v6 will kick my GT's ***....ugh. Please tell me there is still hope for our s197 GT's....
Also, what is the curb weight on the new V6???

The S197 GT will likely edge out the new V6 Mustangs; the longer the race, the longer the spread will be. You can thank your extra torque for that.
I'd estimate the new V6 Mustags will run a 13.8 or so. Faster than the Camaro V6's but most likely not faster than S197 GTs.
The new V6 will have a lower curb weight than the current year. Smaller displacement block replaced from the heavy cast iron, to the lightweight aluminum block is the biggest weight shaver. I'm not sure how much of a weight difference there is between a cast iron vs. aluminum....Anyone know?
Don't think of it as Ford screwing you, think of it as an excuse to BUY a twin-screw supercharger

I'd say 150lbs but I don't take my word for it.

That's not as big of a weight difference as I'd thought it would be.

Also, it looks like the aluminum engine of the 2011 v6 is only 40lbs lighter than the 2010 v6 engine - see link http://www.automoblog.net/2009/11/30...ts-some-*****/

The 3V GT will still be at least a half a second faster than the 2011 V6 in the 1/4. You guys need to stop getting hung up on peak HP figures. Compare the power/torque curves of the two when the 2011's come out and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm not knocking the new 3.7 Stang....but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves.
